lbert J. Angel, D.V.M.
Among his peers and pet owners alike, Dr. Albert Angel has earned a reputation as one of the best veterinarians in South Florida. His valued service and dedication, his extensive knowledge and impressive skills in treating sick or injured animals, as well as his holistic approach in maintaining wellness and longevity in his furry patients are reasons Dr. Angel has long been regarded as the area's "Top Vet".
Dr. Angel has been practicing Veterinary Medicine in South Palm Beach County since 1984. He is a graduate from UNAM University of Mexico, who received his DVM degree in 1981 and has been passionate about his profession ever since. He experienced working at Crandon Park Zoo in Key Biscayne for a short term, prior to his externship at Animal Medical Center in Manhattan. His main focus in his vocation has been to educate owners as to the proper medical care for the well-being of their furry family member.
He is a member of Feline Practitioners Association and a member of the Veterinary Laser Society. His special interests include internal medicine for dogs and cats and emergency care. He started his private practice in Palm Beach County in 1985, where he has extended to multiple locations and combined his knowledge with other experienced associates. As Medical Director and Chief of Staff, Dr. Angel offers at all three hospitals surgical and laser procedures, dentistry, emergency critical care, radiology and other medical services our four-legged friends require to maintain wellness.
He is a devoted family man married for over 27 years with three children who are the main focus for his life. Among his favorite breeds are German Shepherds and Labradors, though at the moment a Domestic Long Hair cat and a miniature Italian Greyhound that goes by the name of "Beamer" rule his animal kingdom. When time allows, he enjoys working out at the gym and grilling at home with his family. He looks forward to many more years of enjoying his family and his passion for animals, as he looks forward to meeting new patients.
George Zafir, D.V.M.
Dr. George Zafir, the hospital director of the Animal Hospital of the Palm Beaches, graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from McGill University in Montreal. His Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree was obtained in 1983 from the University of Guelph, Ontario Veterinary College, Ontario, Canada. Dr. Zafir has practiced at the Animal Hospital of the Palm Beaches since arriving in the United States almost 15 years ago, He is married to his first and only wife for nearly 25 years. He has 3 children, 2 dogs, 2 cats and one kitty on the way. Dr. Zafir enjoys reading, swimming and landscaping his yard. Dr. Zafir is also enthralled with rappellmg off mountains, skydiving, fast car racing, volcano explorations and great white shark encounters, but only in his dreams. Most importantly to Dr. Zafir is to enjoy time with family and friends and to be the best he can be for his patients and their guardians.
Michael Shaff, V.M.D.
Dr. Michael Shaff s father is a veterinarian, so from a very early age he knew he wanted to continue m the profession. Also, as it turns out, his closest cousin is a veterinarian practicing in New York. Dr. Shaff has a Bachelors of Science Degree from Syracuse University in New York. He obtained his Veterinary Medical Degree (V.M.D.) from the University of Pennsylvania in 1979. Upon graduation, he stayed in Philadelphia for a year before coming to south Florida. After working as an associate in a general practice and an emergency hospital, he opened his own animal hospital in Northwest Broward County. After 23 years as a solo practitioner, the practice was sold and he became a relief veterinarian providing services to several veterinary hospitals throughout Palm Beach, Broward and Dade counties.
Dr. Shaff joined our family in May 2008. Within Dr. Shaff s wide range of clinical experiences, he particularly enjoys internal medicine, dermatology, and practicing health maintenance. Married for over 29 years, he has 2 children, a boy and a girl, and two dogs. His pastimes include scuba diving, kayaking, skiing and kickboxmg.
Ember Moreno, D.V.M.
Dr. Ember Moreno, a new member of our staff, comes to us from New York City. Bom in Bogota, Columbia, his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine was obtained from the Universidad Nacional de Columbia in 1995. Dr. Moreno obtained his training at the Animal Medical Center in Manhattan in New York City, where he focused primarily on internal medicine. He was also trained in oral surgery, endodontics and soft tissue surgery. His favorite pastimes include playing tennis and soccer, and being with his son Julian.
Randy Haines, D.V.M.
Dr. Randy Haines aspired to become a veterinarian growing up in Farmington Hills, Michigan. His first after-school job was with the local veterinarian. At the University of Michigan, he obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science. While attending University, he worked at a veterinary practice honing his skills on large animals, horses and cattle, to small mammals. At 25, he graduated Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine with his D.V.M. degree. Dr. Haines and his wife moved to warmer Boca Raton in 1978. Two years later, he opened his own clinic and co-founded an emergency clinic in West Palm Beach, followed by another clinic in Boca Raton. A friendly and professional relationship with Dr. Angel lead Dr. Haines to join our team where he has been valuable member for the past two decades. Spending time with family, fishing, water sports and college football are a few of Dr. Haines favorite hobbies. "Go Blue."
